If you have found this guide useful but are not yet a registered member of the site, please consider joining the forums! (http://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/register.php?referrerid=28476)

This guide is intended to give you information on the assignments that are required to obtain the King in the North (S) trophy.

The assignments are mostly straightforward and require you to use and get kills with the new vehicles and equipment introduced in Final Stand. They may prove to be quite time consuming and potentially frustrating depending on your luck and skill.

Note the new premium member only assignments Ultimate Assault, Ultimate Engineer, Ultimate Support, Ultimate Recon and Ultimate Commander introduced at the same time as Final Stand are not required for the trophy. Neither is the new premium only Phantom assignment, Phantom Operative.

In order to be eligible to complete these assignments you must own the Final Stand DLC and be at least rank 10 or 20 depending on the assignment.

Bronze Assignments

Disinformation
http://i.imgur.com/x3e4JeZ.png

This is a relatively easy assignment and can be done on any map or game mode. For the first requirement you need to affect 10 enemies with the flashbang. This is a grenade that causes a flash of light that temporarily blinds players affected by it. To achieve the requirement you simply need to blind 10 enemy players. All 10 players do not need to be blinded at the same time, the total is cumulative.

For the second requirement you need to get 3 melee i.e. knife kills. These do not need to be done in the same round so just play normally but if you end up behind an enemy try and knife them instead of just shooting them. You will also be credited with a melee kill if you are knifed from the front and succeed in counter knifing the enemy player.

A good map to get this assignment done quickly is Operation Locker due to the small corridors and rooms that feature on that map. It can be quite easy to find yourself behind enemies and when the teams clash in the middle of the map it provides the perfect situation for blinding enemies with your flashbangs.

This is another easy assignment that can be done on any map. You should get this assignment naturally if you are using a Carbine or DMR as you should be spotting enemies as you play.

When you see an enemy player press R1 :r1: or R2 :r2: (depending on setup) to spot them, they will show on the mini-map and an arrow will appear above their head. You should also regularly press the spot button as you run around even if you can’t see any one as often your soldier will spot an enemy when you may not be able to see them.

Spot 4 enemies and you will receive the spotting ribbon, get 2 of these and you’ve completed the requirement.

For the second requirement simply get 20 kills with a DMR or Carbine. I would suggest using a fast firing carbine like the ACW-R for this but it’s really down to preference.

Silver Assignments

XD-1 Deathbringer
http://i.imgur.com/58yPoFX.png

Map specific: Giants of Karelia / Hammerhead / Hangar 21 / Operation Whiteout

For the first requirement you need to get 30 kills with the Accipiter. You use the Accipiter like the MAV, deploy then attach to it then fly it around using :cross: to ascent, :circle: to descent, :ls: to move it around and :rs: to look around (controls depend on setup, descend control is mapped to crouch). To fire the Accipiter's minigun press the fire button (R2 :r2: or R1 :r1: depending on setup).

The Accipitor's minigun is quite weak and it takes a lot of hits to kill people. Additionally the battery only lasts for around a minute before the Accipitor dies. This can make this requirement quite time consuming as kills can be difficult to come by. The Accipitor can road kill people however so you can try and road kill if you are struggling with the minigun.

The best map I found to use the Accipitor on (on Conquest Small) is Giants of Karelia. That map is the only one where the Accipitor doesn't spawn at a flag so is easier to pick up. Also the area around the pickup does not have a lot of people passing through it so there is less chance of your hiding spot being found.

A tip on how to make your Accipitor last longer is to return it to where you are hiding before the battery runs out. You can then pick it up with :square: and re-deploy immediately with a full battery. Credit to uncharted86 (http://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/4837486-post20.html) for this tip.

The locations of the XD-1 Accipitor pickup on all the DLC maps is shown in the spoiler.

Map key is as follows:

Red - Location on Conquest Small / PS3 only
Green- Location on Conquest Large only

Map specific: Hammerhead / Hangar 21 / Operation Whiteout

The snowmobile is one of the new vehicles introduced in Final Stand. It is a fast 2 person transport vehicle similar to the quad bike or dirt bike and is used for traversing the snow covered environments found in Final Stand.

For the first requirement you need to get 10 road kills with the snowmobile. Just drive around until you see an enemy and try and run them over. When you succeed you will get a "Roadkill". Get 10 and you will have completed this requirement.

The second requirement you will easily get on your way to the first. Due to the speed of the snowmobile and the rocky nature of the DLC maps the snowmobile will often be launched into the air as you drive around. Once you have spent 5 minutes (300 seconds) in the air this requirement will be complete.

Hover Tank Harbinger
http://i.imgur.com/XLxTEfO.png

Map specific: Hammerhead / Operation Whiteout

The HT-95 Levkov, hover tank is a new vehicle found on the Final Stand maps Hammerhead and Operation Whiteout. The hover tank is a lot more mobile than a regular MBT however it is not as accurate as the turret is not free to move separate to the tank body (i.e. the turret always points to the front of the tank).

You will need to destroy 15 vehicles with the hover tank for the assignment. Destroying any vehicle will count towards this requirement, as will any vehicle you destroy as the gunner. Do bear in mind that you need to get the "Vehicle Destroyed" bonus so destroying empty vehicles wont count (unless the enemy has only just exited the vehicle).

The other requirement for this assignment, to spend 10 minutes (600 seconds) in the hover tank, you will probably achieve whilst getting the 15 vehicle destroys. If not simply keep using the hover tank until you've spent 10 minutes in it.

The hover tank is a flag spawning vehicle, the flags it will spawn at are shown in the spoiler below.

The tank spawns at the same flag locations on both Conquest Small and Conquest Large.

Railgun Rampage
http://i.imgur.com/r52Pfed.png

Map specific: Giants of Karelia / Hammerhead / Hangar 21 / Operation Whiteout

The Rorsch Mk-1 or railgun is a new battle pickup in the Final Stand DLC. The first requirement for this assignment will prove a little frustrating as the railgun doesn't do that much damage to vehicles.

Max damage against an MBT seems to be 35, against an IFV it is similarily low and with the long reload time of the railgun it is somewhat pointless trying to destroy armoured vehicles with the gun unless team mates are damaging them at the same time.

The railgun doesn't fair much better against other vehicles. An initial hit on a helicopter will always mobility hit however by the time the railgun has reloaded the pilot will have recovered and you'll be back to square one. Against snowmobiles and quad bikes you only ever seem to kill the driver, never the vehicle.

That's the bad news, now for the good. Equipment and emplacement kills count as a vehicle destroy for this assignment making it a lot easier. Spawn beacons, SOFLAMs and the SC-42 emplacement have all been confirmed as counting (thanks to darkdante14 for this information).

Maps showing the locations of the railgun pickup are in the spolier below.

The key to the map is:

Green- Location on Conquest Large only

Mechanized Mayhem
http://i.imgur.com/tUhHQHu.png

Map specific: Giants of Karelia / Hammerhead / Hangar 21 / Operation Whiteout. Second requirement can only be done on Hangar 21.

The Schipunov 42 is the new emplacement in Final Stand that fires a volley of projectiles and is found at most flags. Although it can damage vehicles it is far more effective against infantry so you should concentrate on foot soldiers when trying to get the 25 kills.

For the other part of the assignment you need to spend 5 minutes in the air with the launch pod. The pod launcher is found on the map Hangar 21 and is a vehicle that launches the soldier into the air in a protective pod. To launch yourself from the launcher, enter it by holding square, aim to where you want to go and press the fire button (R1 :r1: or R2 :r2: depending on setup). After a couple of seconds you will be fired into the air in the launch pod. When the pod hits the ground you will be automatically exited from it or you can exit it in mid air and parachute down to the ground by holding :square:. You need to spend 5 minutes (300 seconds) in the air inside this pod.

Due to the larger map area of Conquest Large and the positioning of pod launchers near flags you will probably get this playing naturally. Or you can keep firing yourself between pod locations until you have spent 5 minutes in the air.

On Conquest Small however there is only a single pod launcher which is a little out the way from any flag so you will need to make a point of going there. To get 5 minutes air time ASAP you can aim as high as the launcher will go and fire yourself straight up into the air. Then stay in the pod until you fall back to the ground. Rinse and repeat.

The location of the pod launcher is shown in the map below. Red indicates the location of the launcher on Conquest Large, orange on Conquest Large and Conquest Small.

Warning if you launch your pod straight after another person without changing the trajectory there is a chance your pods will collide and kill you both.

Gold Assignments

Frostbite
http://i.imgur.com/ZstZYfg.png

Map specific: Giants of Karelia / Hammerhead / Hangar 21 / Operation Whiteout

This assignment is relatively easy although it will be time consuming and require some luck. Play the DLC maps until you have accumulated a total of 10 hours play time on those maps. You can check your progress on Battlelog and in-game although it only shows the number of hours you have played, not minutes. It still gives a rough estimate of how long you still need to play however.

The reason I say the assignment is easy despite you needing 40 wins is simply because this isn't something you can achieve alone. You need a team to win a round, all you can do is play the game, play the objective as best you can and hope your team is good enough to help you get the win.

Be aware you need to finish the round for it to count toward the assignment. Even though it counts as a win in your stats if you leave mid-round, for it to count for the assignment you do need to finish it.

All game modes count towards the assignment so you can pick whichever one you prefer. Team Deathmatch and Domination rounds tend to be shorter than other game modes so are a good choice for getting the wins quickly. Note Air Superiority, Carrier Assault and Chainlink game modes are not available on Final Stand maps.

Good to know the XD-1 Accipiter can road kill. I've only managed 1 kill and about 20 assists. It gets destroyed so easily so after I learn the maps better I'll play it in hardcore.

chackijhan

November 21st, 2014, 08:50 AM

The XD-1 Accipter ain't so bad to get kills with as long as you play hardcore mode. You can usually get 3-4 kills per battery if you can find the enemies grouped up. If you try it in normal mode it's almost impossible though because it freaking takes a full battery of constant shooting to kill one enemy :p

Any tips for the map wins? I have no doubt this will be the longest part of the trophy for me, but I was just curious if someone found a gametype that went faster or worked better, especially while playing solo. Thanks in advance!

I just played TDM. Got a win every 10-15 min, so went pretty fast.

number45_

November 23rd, 2014, 03:17 PM

I didn't mention TDM or domination as I didn't find it that much easier to get wins in those modes than others (when I was playing solo anyway and didn't have my team carrying friend helping :p). When I eventually found a server with a decent player count it was more running simulator than TDM trying to find enemies in the stupidly large map area.

If others are finding those modes good for wins though then I'll mention it in the guide.

The Guided Shell unlock for the main tank works great for one shot destroys of snowmobiles. Half of my 15 destroys were of players cruising across open areas on them. Just need 20 more wins for 100%!!

December 7th, 2014, 10:20 AM

Thanks for the guide. The hardest one for me were the tank kills as only two maps have them on Conquest and everyone jumps in them so quick.

Only need map wins for 100% and I'm using Commander mode for the relaxation wins.

The 30 kills with the XD-1 Accipiter are brutal!
I only have one kill with it so far; that thing doesn't seem to do any damage...
This is by far the most difficult assignment of Final Stand.

If anybody wants some easy snowmobile kills I found a neat trick by accident. In hangar 21 the button you press to get the Titan thrusters to activate, if you do that then hop into a vehicle it counts as vehicle kill. I got 3 snowmobile kills on one go like that.

Wow, I hate the railgun assignment! The kills are so easy but it's so difficult to destroy vehicles/equipment! I can't find any equipment and shooting vehicles is pointless... Can anyone give me a hint how to do this?

Superkiwi

December 11th, 2014, 12:46 PM

All final stand maps have plenty of snipers.
Search for spawn beacons and/or T-ugs, they are easy targets.
You can also shoot stationary guns with an enemy on it or where an enemy has recently been on.
You can also try to shoot empty snowmobiles.

number45_

December 11th, 2014, 01:13 PM

Yeah it can be frustrating. When doing the assignment on PS4 I switched to the loosing team during one round as my team was the one using emplacements and putting spawn beacons down so I switched so I could shoot them

I generally tried to camp somewhere with the railgun where I could see the emplacements then just waited for someone to use it. Takes a lot of camping and only really works if the flags are going back and forth between teams but you eventually get there.

Superkiwi

December 13th, 2014, 05:35 AM

Got my 30 kills with the XD-1
The rest of the assignments are pretty easy in my opinion.
They can, however, be time consuming. But as I like this game a lot that's cool :D

Bezenko

December 13th, 2014, 05:49 PM

If anyone wants to get the 40 wins done quickly, try to find a 64 player rush game and just switch teams every round so you're always defender. Usually attackers can't even get past first set of MCOMS. And the tickets drain in 5 minutes. :)

Ace of Toads

December 13th, 2014, 07:38 PM

Thanks for the guide.
Funny how different players find different assignments hard. Personally the only one i found really difficult was the kills with the snow mobile. Really struggled and got frustrated with that, found the snow mobile uncontrollable and spent most of the time in the air or just run over a player and no kill.
XD-1 kills weren't too bad as i found it seems to do quite a bit damage to choppers and got at least half my kills like that especially on Hanger 21 with transport choppers.
Rail gun easy, got it in 2 matches and like the others said just camp (the shame of it!) a Shipunov emplacement to destroy as you'll get players going to them all the time to try and get the assignment for the emplacement kills.

Superkiwi

December 17th, 2014, 11:33 AM

I only need a couple of wins on each map.
Looking back, the assignments (and trophies) weren't thát hard.
The only thing that took me a while were the 30 XD-1 kills, as it hardly does any damage...
The hoover tank was fun, as well as the Rorsch. Man, that thing is waaaay overpowered

I took my time and only played conquest large.

Just finished these up today and got my 100% back. I thought snow mobile kills would be hardest but i managed to rack them up pretty quickly zipping around operation whiteout and hamerhead. Personally i found the railgun the most annoying. Even after reading the tips here i barely saw any equipment, got most of mine of snow mobiles and helos.

Thanks for the guide! It may not be obvious, but the Launch Pods counts as vehicles if you destroy them. I found that the best way to get the Railgun vehicle destroys because lots of people just fire them straight up so you can shoot when they reach their peak and stop mid-air.

Battlefield 4: Final Stand DLC ~ Assignment Guide

If you have found this guide useful but are not yet a registered member of the site, please consider joining the forums!

This guide is intended to give you information on the assignments that are required to obtain the King in the North trophy.

To launch yourself from the launcher, enter it by holding square, aim to where you want to go and press the fire button (R1 or R2 depending on setup). After a couple of seconds you will be fired into the air in the launch pod. When the pod hits the ground you will be automatically exited from it or you can exit it in mid air and parachute down to the ground by holding .
